About

Cozying Up was launched in August 2025. As a long time lover of Agatha Christie and the genre that is now known as cozy mysteries, this site was created to chronicle my journey as I work to create my own cozy mystery.
If you subscribe, you'll get full access to the website as well as email newsletters about new content when it's available. The cost is $1 for a one month subscription or $5 for a year. (That’s the lowest amount Ghost and/or Stripe will let me set it.)
By signing up, you'll get access to the full archive of everything that's been published before and everything that's still to come. New content will be sent straight to your inbox and past posts or pages will be here waiting for you to read at your leisure. (Let’s face it… we’re all about the leisure.)
Why a charge at all? Because AI and other content scrapers are evil. And I don’t want to feed those heinous trolls if I can help it at all.
In addition, your subscription makes this site possible, and allows Cozying Up to continue to exist. Thank you! Gracias! Dankje!
Who am I?
Hi, I’m Carla, also known as RadioCarla on some outposts of the Internet. No, I’m not going to give you my full name on this publicly available webpage. I was a single woman working on-air in radio for too long to not know the value of using an on air pseudonym or “nom de mic” if you will.
I’ve lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
I studied at Parkland College, Monmouth College, Indiana State University, and Southern Illinois University.
I taught theater appreciation, public speaking (so much public speaking), radio production, public relations, web design, interpersonal communication, group dynamics, and bunch of brewing science classes (my academic career took a left turn at that point).
I worked in almost every job and every format there is (or was) in commercial (and sometimes noncommercial) radio. Well, maybe not disco polka gospel, but you get the idea.
When I was six years old, my dad told me when I was six plus six, he would take me to Disneyland. I remembered and I held him to that promise so our family spent Thanksgiving break at Walt Disney World that year. It was the beginning of my fascination with Disney travel whether it was WDW, Disneyland, or the Disney Cruise Line. (Though the Adventures by Disney trip that Dad and I did in 2015 was just... okay.)
Like my mom and gramma before me, I follow sports. I’ve been a Cubs fan since Billy Williams was playing first base. My time living in the Hoosier state made me an IndyCar fan. And thanks to Rob and Ryan, I’m one of the many international fans of Wrexham AFC.
But no matter what I was doing or where I was doing it, reading and writing have been a large part of my life. Cozying Up is how I try to combine those two loves.
